公立では1・2年に理科の授業が実施されないが、当校では外国のカリキュラムにより生物、科学、化学の分野を履修する。自然に親しみ、見通しを持って観察、実験などを行い、思考力、推察力、発表力、問題解決の能力と自然を愛する心情を育て、自然の事物・現象についての理解を図り、科学的な見方や考え方を養う。理科に関する物の名前や化学記号をゲーム感覚で覚える。
At AIES, we will cover the basics of the fields of biology, chemistry, physics and general science. Students will have an opportunity to get close to nature through hands-on experiments and field observations. Through hands-on experiments, students will learn to postulate questions and though scientific deductions come up with their own theories. By communing with nature, students will develop a better understanding of it, leading to a greater appreciation of the Earth. Students will also learn scientific notations, such as the periodic table of elements and scientific names of various plants and animals through fun activities. Science is not taught in Japanese public schools until after grades one and two.
