Through basic activities and experiences, students will gain an appreciation for themselves, the people around them, various places in their area, public places, society and nature. Students will be made to think about themselves and their lives, be made to acquire the necessary habits and skills needed for life and will be supported with the basics of independence.
Even though Social Studies is not taught during the first two years at public schools, we aim for an understanding of social life, and foster a love for Japan and its history, giving them the base needed as citizens of a peaceful, democratic nation and society living in an international society.
In addition to expressing things they have researched, observing and researching social events, and making good, effective use of maps and various materials, students will foster their ability to think about the relationships between local societies and traits of social events. We believe that we should not separate environmental problems, current events, economic problems, geography and history of Japan and the world. Students learn from asking questions from the point in society that is most deeply touched by children. Importance is placed on the approach to social issues. Students are encouraged to offer their opinions.
